First Chemo Follow-up Appointment

Today Tim had a follow up appointment for residual fluids in his upper body and lungs which is linked to the tumor and his superior vena cava. As the doctor predicted, the majority of the folds in his upper body were absorbed as the stranglehold on his SVC was loosened within the days following chemo. He has a little bit of fluid in the chest cavity around his right lung making sleeping a little difficult, but the doctor seems pretty confident that this will go away after his chemo treatment next week.
Another side effect of the chemo discussed was that the tips of Tim’s fingers are tingly. It is a known side effect of one of the four chemo drugs due to the way it affects the nerves in some people. At this point we will be moving forward as is unless the symptoms get worse. If they do the drugs would have to be adjusted accordingly.

He had a quick followup with the surgeon that did his biopsy following the first appointment. Everything on the incision looked good and he is free to take “soaking baths” as he wishes.

Tomorrow Tim will be going to Oregon Health and Science Univerisity to get a second opinion on his diagnosis and treatment. As his doctor said today, ” It doesn’t hurt.”

After his doctor appointment Tim and John went to Costco and came home with a pizza. Tim’s chemo diet is the opposite of a good wedding diet. We will see… At least we had a good lentil soup and treats from the Cole/Campbell Family last night.

We have loved all of the posts and comments by all of you. The love is being received and sent back to you. Thank you all so much.
