First Week of Chemo

Tim had his first chemo treatment this week.  He did pretty great besides the minor green face and stoned feeling afterwards. He went home and ate a great meal brought over from our friends Nickie and Luke. The next day he made sure he had plenty of fluids, but did not eat much until dinner.  He then enjoyed John’s simple, yet tasty chicken and broccoli topped with a big bowl of ice cream.

FYI: The ice cream has now become a nightly ritual. Are we surprised with these Marrinan men?

Thursday, Jen decided to be helpful and make a good healthy crockpot meal.

Chemo Lesson: CROCKPOTS ARE NOT GOOD!  For a nauseous chemo patient a food aroma all day is not the best idea.  It tasted great, but Jen and John decided we can do the next one in the garage.

Friday was Tim’s toughest day.  He took a long walk to the store and rested for a while. He still managed to have an appetite for a fancy artisan pizza (thank you Eileen) and fancy ice cream.

Today we are enjoying a cozy gloomy day filled with watching sports and the dogs of course.

Tim will go to the doctor on Tuesday to check-up on his fluid draining due to the location of his tumor on the superior vena cava.

We want to thank all of you for the positive thoughts, prayers, kind words, actions, food, support and being such a great part of our lives.

Good Morning, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, at least I hope it is. Juanita sent me this address this morning and I am thankful every day for technology even though some folks are not. I am glad John is able to stay for support and help, family is so important.

It is a beautiful day here in Mississippi, lots of budding trees and blooms. Hard to choose between Basketball and sitting outside. All of our teams are out except Ole Miss and I image Miami will fix that today. Hope you are having better luck.

I’m so glad Tim is able to eat something and is not totally wiped out by treatments. Our hope is that he can continue to tolerate them and that his checkups are good. It goes without saying that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourselves and I will check in on you.

Love, Aunt Nancy & Uncle Jerry

So much good food going on here!!!! I made John’s yeast waffles and strawberries for brunch. I wish I could have brought some to you guys. (They smelled great…perhaps another garage item.)

I love this blog, Jen, and your kid’s drawings. Some interesting hair going on in those adorable pictures.

Thinking of you all the time. Hello to the whole household including Tahoe and Popcorn!

    Love,
    Eileen

    Good morning Jennifer and Tim,

Sounds like you’re hanging in there. Wanted you to know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers every day and night. I feel in my heart that Tim will get through this just fine and that your relationship will grow stronger because of it.

A very close business acquaintance of mine just finished up chemo (four months) for breast cancer and is now going through radiation. She said the trick to staying strong is to keep “busy” when you have the energy and to “rest” when your body tells you to. Key is to “listen to your body”….it will tell you what you need : )

Keep positive, stay strong and have “FAITH”!

    Love you guys,
    Kathy
