Good news…
Not really up for writing much, but there was good news from all of the poking and prodding that we rushed home to complete Monday. The doctor did not have the official report so he reviewed the PET and CT and found that both were promising. The PET showed no abnormal activity and the tumor was inactive. The CT showed that some of the mass remained, but due to the PET it does not concern him. The superior vena cava providing return blood flow to the heart from the upper extremities looked like a nearly normal diameter.
Based on the doctor’s cheat sheet which shows standard of care for cancer across the country for a clean PET there are two options: 2 cycles of chemo followed by radiation or going straight to radiation. The first option with nearly 3 months of treatment is the recommended one to maximize curing the cancer, and that is the option we are going with. With my healthy lungs and lifestyle it also provides for a better long term prognosis.
On another very happy note, the wedding went off without a hitch (except us getting hitched). Jen only shed tears of joy with no other kinds of tears mixed in. It was so nice to put names with faces for some of the people commenting on here whom I had not previously met. Thanks to all that came to celebrate with us, and also to those who were there is spirit; we cannot wait to catch up with you elsewhere. Please see Jen and my facebook pages, https://www.facebook.com/jenschmidtphotography, and photos.marrinan.us for our newest pics.
Since I am just out of chemo, I am going to keep this short, but thanks again for all for your continued support and well wishes.
